Nine Locks Brewing Company

It started, as these things often do, with a hot summer night. Cousins Shaun and Danny O’Hearn were enjoying a couple (or more) cool craft-made ales out on their deck. That triggered an idea, which turned out to be Nine Locks Brewing Company, owned and operated locally by local guys. The Nine Locks pays tribute to their brewery location, near the historic Shubenacadie Canal, which originally had nine locks built to facilitate ship movement of goods between Halifax and the rest of the province.
We smile at their motto, which says, “We can so you can take it outside.” If you like ale with no preservatives, no pasteurization, and no filtration, then you’re going to love their line of brews. They have four available yearround, but also roll out some limited edition brews to give you something a little different. Who knows what they’ll have with them at Expo? They’ve just celebrated their first anniversary, and we expect that was just the first of many more to come.
Pop by their booth at the Expo to sample one (or more) of the ales and beer – they guarantee that you’ll be hooked. Then you, too, can enjoy a cool ale out on your deck.
