What do you do when you’re fourth generation potato farmers and you want to value-add to your dark Russett potatoes, grown in the fertile Saint John River Valley near Hartland? You form a company and begin making potato chips. Soon, you have multiple flavours of kettle cooked, homegrown potato chips, and Covered Bridge Potato Chips is born. Since 2009, Covered Bridge (named for that landmark longest covered bridge in the world in their hometown), has been delighting chip lovers with their many flavours. You need never run out of “storm chips” during an East Coast winter—Ryan Albright, the company president, and his brother Matthew Albright, the CFO (that’s Chief Farming Officer) and their employees even make a branded storm chip with four flavours in one bag.
Not content to rest on their laurels, the Albrights soon added bagged popcorn in several flavours, and their ever-popular sweet potato chips continue to be bestsellers. Most recently, they’ve introduced chick pea chips, which have become a fast favourite, too. Be sure to visit the Covered Bridge Booth at Saltscapes Expo and stock up on your favouratites!
