The sweet taste of success is happening for a group of Indigenous women from Tobique First Nation, NB. Just over a year ago, they launched Wabanaki Maple, and began selling their products last Christmas to rave reviews.
Indigenous people were the first to discover the treasure of maple syrup, so Wabanaki’s team have taken the traditional 100 per cent pure New Brunswick maple syrup and added a twist to it by barrel-aging it. Currently, they offer three signature flavours—Bourbon, Whiskey, and Toasted Oak.
Not sure which would be your favourite? You can sample all three at Saltscapes Expo! The women of Wabanaki are excited for people to try their products, telling us, “The best part is watching the reactions on everyone’s face when they try the syrup!” The bourbon is the most popular flavour, but whiskey is a close second. Try them for yourselves and taste the difference
