Hailing from New Brunswick, Heather is making her debut at Saltscapes Expo 2019, along with fellow fibre artists Mary Kay Love and Kate Frego. Heather has always been creative in many mediums, and now that time has afforded her the opportunity to follow her passions, she is exploring textures and working with many types of fibers, including wool, fabric, naturally found objects and more… “Nothing escapes my attention if it will add an element of interest,” she says.

Heather uses a lot of local wool from Briggs and Little Woolen Mills in Harvey Station, NB in her creations. She has an intense love for the ocean, and her favourite pastime is wandering the beaches and coastlines of our region, examining the beaches for treasure or simply observing the dynamics of the shoreline. This love of the ocean and coasts is reflected in her work—her goal is “to try and capture the magic of the sea with fibres.” She also creates delightful felted sculptures and for the bling lovers among us, felted geodes with crystals and fibre—they have to be seen to be believed! Please make sure to welcome Heather and her creations to Expo!
